Fragments of Identity
This series explores the complex identities of girls and women today and the messages we absorb about who we are and who we should be. Society teaches us how our lives are supposed to look - ideas we rarely question or discuss. Using the traditionally feminine language of needlework, I examine the tension between imposed expectations and authentic selfhood: What empowers us? What harms us? Who are we, really?
Through imagery, text, and symbolism, these work challenge the cultural narratives that shape and distort women’s lives. It’s a call to unlearn, redefine, and celebrate the strength and complexity of our true identities.
